Service Description
Our environment is everchanging and so is our palate. This course is about discovering how we can create meals that suit us. - Gluten free recipes - Vegetarian and vegan - Dietary requirements explored - Preserves with excess produce from your garden - Learn to use equipment that you haven't used before Hands-on Activities providing hands-on opportunities for participants to practice the preserving techniques taught in the class. Pickling: Explore the art of pickling various vegetables, such as cucumbers, carrots, onions, and peppers. Discuss different brines and flavor combinations, demonstrate the pickling process, including preparing the vegetables, creating the brine, and canning or refrigerating the pickles. Jams and Jellies: Introduce participants to the world of making homemade jams, jellies, and fruit preserves. Fermenting: Explore the fascinating world of fermentation. For the first session we will be looking at how we can incorporate different grains that you may never have used like Farro that is an ancient Egyptian grain. Cook and have lunch together or take home dishes. A participant must be a current financial member of Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre.
